AFADs: Automated Work Zone Protection
Missouri DOT data shows Automated Flagging Assistance Devices (AFADs) significantly reduce average approach speeds and increase both the full stop distance and first brake location where drivers reacted to stop controls. The study also says 80% of drivers prefer AFADs over human flaggers.
