Supporting Construction Projects with Expert Traffic Control Plans, Ready in 24-Hours
Keep Construction Projects Rolling with Quick Thinking (and Planning)
MOTPlans, an AWP Safety company, provides customers in Florida and Georgia with end-to-end service for Maintenance of Traffic plans, which are strategic Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) that elevate worksite safety.
Q: Mark, what sets MOTPlans and AWP Safety apart from other competitors in the Southeastern U.S.?
MOTPlans joined AWP Safety by acquisition in 2022 and it’s been a great match. AWP Safety offers a comprehensive portfolio of traffic management solutions unmatched by any other provider. For our part, the MOTPlans team specializes in full-service barricade work and quick-turn TCPs for just about any situation. We use our own expertise and the latest technology to engineer custom TCPs more quickly than many of our competitors. We’ve become known for our 24-hour plan turnaround. Other providers can take weeks.
Q: What’s Your Secret To Providing TCP’s so Quickly?
It boils down to two things: our passion for safety, and our unparalleled focus on customer service.
Customers want to work safely, but they don’t always know what they need to ensure they’re in compliance with local regulations. Many of our customers are companies that only need occasional assistance with short-term jobs, like putting a crane in the road to lift a new air conditioning unit onto the roof of an office building. They’ll come to us and say, “the city just told me I need a TCP, and I need to start work in two days.” We absolutely live for these fire-drill scenarios — the customer need is what drives us to act quickly. And we’re with them through the entire process, from explaining what a TCP is, to getting it to the right folks for approval. We make it happen no matter what.
Q: What Do Customers Say About the Value that Quick-Turn TCP’s add to their projects?
They appreciate that we keep projects running on time and give them one less thing to worry about. Even if a customer has a smaller job, that doesn’t mean they can afford to run late. Many customers don’t have the background to understand how TCPs work, and that’s okay. While they focus on their own business, they can rely on us to make sure that the planning process is done correctly and gets approved.
Q: How Has TEchnology changed the TCP Planning Process?
TCPs were hand drawn when I started in this business 20+ years ago. Around that time, computer programs specializing in traffic graphics and engineering drawings were introduced, but many companies were slow to use them. MOTPlans was an early adopter. It significantly hastened the process. We knew it was the future of TCP planning, so we ran with it. Since then, we’ve customized these programs to suit the needs of customers and our own business. We’ve also kept every plan we’ve ever created, giving us easy, digital access to 21,000 plans that can be referenced and repurposed.
Q: How Does MOTPlans being part of the AWP Safety portfolio Benefit Customers?
Customers’ traffic control needs are increasingly complex. Together, our companies provide unprecedented scale, expertise, technology and solutions through local teams that truly understand local customer needs and regulatory requirements. AWP Safety is already the leader in the traffic control space; through our partnership, we’re now able to deliver 24-hour TCP services to a growing number of major metropolitan areas.
