AWP Service With a Smile Goes Viral

Team AWP, June 20, 2017

It was a regular day in Front Royal, Virginia for AWP Protector Mantrell Lewis. Mantrell had reported to his jobsite as usual, but what happened later was astonishing! A passerby, Deborah Way Fritts, took a photo of Mantrell and shared it to Ellen Degeneres’ Facebook page. Ms. Fritts said the following:

For the past couple months during the day, the road [between home and town is under construction, but] is open to one way traffic. I don’t know this man, however he always has a smile and a wave for what seems like every car that drives past him. Today, he enthusiastically waved at a whole school bus full of children as they waved to him. He brightens the grayest of days. He’s out there in all types of weather and he never appears to have a bad day. I hope more folks aspire to be like this guy!

The original post was shared more than 2,000 times and received more than 19,000 reactions and nearly 500 comments. Many folks commented with experiences they’ve had travelling through Mantrell’s work zone. Whether it was his infectious smile or a friendly thumbs-up to those respecting the work zone, AWP Protector Mantrell Lewis’ positive attitude and professionalism is effectively changing the way the motoring public sees traffic control.

AWP is proud of Mantrell. He demonstrates yet another example of how AWP’s traffic control is different from the rest. We value the work our Protectors do each day.

When you’re passionate about what you do, it shows!
