Estimator

The Estimator position will be in office at either our Riverside or Santa Ana branch locations, and will service our Southern California locations, including but not limited to Poway, Santa Ana, and Riverside branches. The Estimator’s responsibilities and essential functions include researching, coordinating, creating and tracking quotes for the portfolio of services, rentals and products. This position is an active, hands-on role focusing on ensuring quotes or bids are made on all possible opportunities – growing existing accounts, and meeting or exceeding sales and margin targets. The position is an essential part of the team, supporting the day-to-day activities of the business at the branch and regional level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Search, download, and review bidding opportunity information for upcoming projects with our scope of work / rentals / products via internet sites, bid calendars, prime contractor invitations, leads from account managers, and other bid opportunity sources.
  • Analyze all available information to compile into a proposal estimate. Do takeoffs, build quotes, compile bidders lists, confirm bidding status, send out quotes, follow up with customers, and track the success of quotes.
  • Complete proposals including bid documents, determining the project’s scope, and evaluating special conditions affecting the proposal (including site conditions, access, personnel, and equipment needs). Understand projects and all requirements. Determine key variables for cost and other estimates. Prepare estimates based on time, labor requirements, equipment costs, and specifications.
  • Provide estimating support to other estimators and branches depending on business and bid opportunity volume of the branches involved.
  • Contact current and potential customers in a sales capacity
  • Provide project management and cost tracking support on awarded projects for assigned branches.
  • Work with branch sales team on sales opportunities in conjunction with contract services.
  • Work with purchasing department on getting the best price for materials
  • Work with team members on sales/bid strategies
  • Assist with branch inventory organization, tracking, and record keeping
  • Assist with any other sales related tasks and other duties as assigned.
  • Review market conditions and competitors to understand where we fit in the market – price and capabilities, etc.
  • Complete other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned by Estimating Manager and Branch Managers.
  • Participate in peer mentoring and on-the-job training.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
