Operations Leadership Co-Op

AWP Safety is seeking future leaders finishing their second year of college.  Our AWP Field Operations Leadership Internship is a two-summer competitive leadership training program designed to provide knowledge through challenging rotational assignment and collaborative training, to become the leaders of tomorrow.  Rotational assignments will expose a participant to different business divisions, facilities, and managers enterprise wide.  Through this program you would have access to on-going development opportunities through formal trainings, on-the-job experience, coaching and mentorship with leaders at AWP Safety.  Successful completion will result in a Leadership placement within our organization.

  • Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure facility has zero accidents and are in total compliance with all AWP policies and procedures.
  •  Learn the Business. This position will rotate through temporary assignments to gain a holistic understanding of AWP Safety, our operations, the day-to-day duties of many departments, and the importance of collaboration. Upon successful completion, the program will prepare an individual for a lead or supervisor role in plant operations.
  •  Learn the Operations. Participate in hands-on training involving the operation of traffic control, mobile equipment operation, quality control, customer service, maintenance, and overall facility management.

Estimator

The Estimator at AWP Safety will build quality relationships to secure profitable business partners to support the business unit. Responsibilities include reviewing and clarification of proposals, negotiating projects, completing estimates including bid documents, determining the project’s scope, and evaluating special conditions affecting the proposal. This role will collaborate with the Operations Department to ensure the accuracy of quotes as well as prospecting for business opportunities.

  • Building estimates for clients through direct requests from our customers, CSR’s, planners, or anyone involved with our daily operations that requests an estimate.
  • Produce estimates, track, and manage the estimates in TCR.
  • Track all estimates with our clients to determine the close ratio of completed estimates.
  • Ensure that estimates are being completed in compliance with each city’s requirement and allowed set-up approvals.
  • Continual process improvement, tracking, production and billing of estimates to support the sales efforts for AWP safety.
  • Collaborate with management on strategic estimating and growth initiatives for the estimating department.
  • Analyze all available information to compile into a proposal estimate.
  • Attending external pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work.
  • Determine key variables for cost and other estimates.
  • Complete estimates including bid documents, determining the project’s scope, and evaluating special conditions affecting the proposal (including site conditions, access, personnel, and equipment needs)
  • Review and clarify proposals and negotiate projects.
  • Prepare estimates based on time, labor requirements, equipment costs, and specifications.
  • Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate people (project managers, clients, bidding competitions, etc.)
  • Obtain and track offers and quotes from subcontractors or vendors.
  • Prepare preliminary schedules for all successfully awarded projects.
  • Manage multiple projects estimates simultaneously.
  • Develop relationships with current and potential customers in a sale capacity. (Mainly calls)
  • Involved in peer engagement, mentoring and on-the-job training.

Traffic Control – Dispatcher (2nd shift)

The Dispatcher will demonstrate commitment to achieving the organization’s goals and objectives by coordinating and managing the Traffic Control Supervisors’/drivers’ schedules to ensure equipment is picked up and delivered in a timely manner. Performing multiple tasks effectively with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness, high levels of diplomacy, sound judgment, and discretion when dealing with customers and other department staff.

  • Provide the highest level of customer service and satisfaction

Shop Foreman

The primary objective of the Shop Foreman is to service and maintain the company equipment, vehicles and to make sure we have the appropriate inventory to take care of our customer’s needs.  They will also take care of any customer that is dropping off or picking up equipment at the branch by providing industries best customer service.  Is responsible for ensuring the equipment is serviced by following manufacturers specifications.  All equipment must be in working order and be to of the company’s highest standards before leaving the branch.  They are responsible for the day to day operations of the shop and yard.  From time to time they will also help with deliveries and pickups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all PPE (personal protection equipment) requirements in the shop, and yard.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained to the manufacturer recommendations.
  • Ensure that all decals and warning labels on all equipment are clearly legible.
  • Make sure we have enough equipment for rent at all times.  This should be done daily.  Examples: Sandbags, all barricades, vertical panels, sign plates, signs, stands, stickers, sheeting, lights, drums, arrow boards, message boards, PTS boards, etc
  • You will be responsible for making sure all arrow boards, message boards, PTS boards, etc.. are serviced when returned at all times.  In addition recording what was done on maintenance logs.
  • Make sure all equipment is serviced and maintained daily.  Wash, repair, organize, etc..
  • Responsible to make sure the yard is organized daily.
  • Report to the Manager all inventories that we need to order to make sure we have enough. 
  • Responsible for filling out the proper paperwork with a customer drops off or picks up equipment.
  • Responsible for filling out and maintaining the proper paperwork/reports daily.
  • Report to Manager every morning to see what projects take priority.
  • You are in charge of the shop, please delegate the jobs to the people that are working in the shop.   Make sure everyone in the shop stays busy at all times.
  • You are responsible for keeping the yard and shop clean at all times.  House keeping is a must every day.
  • Make sure all rental equipment is clean and put in the proper place.
  • Help drivers load and unload, if needed.
  • Forklift will only be used for loading and unloading.  Fill out a service report daily when using the forklift.
  • Load and unload ALL customers in a friendly and timely manner (ASAP).  It is your responsibility to check outside for customers at all times.
  • Help in all departments as needed.
  • Turn in all paperwork to Dispatcher at the end of every day.
  • Make sure your branch radio is always on in the yard so dispatch can contact you for your assistance.
  • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures.
