RESPONSIBILITIES

Certified Traffic Control Barricade Setter -Sr. Protector-

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Senior Protector, this role will support and uphold AWP’s core values and mission to protect our customers’ people, businesses, and time. Controls movement of vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic through work zones using hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle. Reviews, comprehends, and executes temporary traffic control plans and/or standards to ensure work zones are properly installed and maintained.

  • Coordinates and communicates with customers to ensure the safety of all workers.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove Advance Warning Signs, Channelizing Devices, and other traffic control devices according to Federal, State, and/or Local Temporary Traffic Control Guidelines and Temporary Traffic Control Plans for simple and intermediate complexity work zones.
  • Maintain a Flagger Station by standing and controlling road users through the use of hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle.
  • Drive a company vehicle to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites safely and in a timely manner. May also pull lightweight trailered equipment.
  • Effective radio communication with team members on work site.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and practices.
  • Notify Supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents.
  • Achieve organizational required training within timeframe established by Project Manager or Facility Manager.
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to Protector

Traffic Control Supervisor Apprentice

Who You Are:

Description:

  • Supervise Flaggers and ensure company, federal, state and local standards are being met.
  • Perform traffic control and flagging activities as needed.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations on all work zones and flagging sites, including placing signs, barricades, traffic cones and other warning devices.
  • Implement and field adjust Traffic Control Plans.
  • Maintain a safe work area on highways, municipal roads, rights-of-way, and rural roads.

Traffic Control Supervisor

As a TCS you will work in collaboration with the Facility Manager, Project Managers, and local MOT team to support MOT’s core values and mission to protect our customers’ people, business, and time. MOT TCS reviews and executes temporary traffic control plans and/or standards to ensure work zones are properly installed and maintained along with coordinating and communicating with customers to ensure the safety of all workers.

  • Set up and maintain channelizing devices, and other traffic control equipment according to Federal, State, and/or Local temporary traffic control guidelines and temporary traffic control plans for complex work zones to ensure the safe movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through project locations and work zones.
  • Coordinate and communicate work activity for onsite MOT personnel including protectors (flaggers), TMA drivers, and pilot car operators providing breaks and overall management of work zone operations.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with customers while always maintaining a professional approach to meeting customers’ expectations.
  • Drive company vehicles to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. May also be required to pull lightweight trailered equipment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and practices and notify their supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents.
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to protectors (flaggers) and obtain all MOT-required training within the time frame established by the Facility Manager.
  • Complete all required project documentation including pre-job safety briefings (PJSB), daily ticket control logs, traffic control inspections, vehicle inspections, etc.

Traffic Control Flagger/ Barricade Setter

Pay range with certification – $18.00 – $18.50

Job Responsibilities:

  • Set-up barricades/cones and related signage to provide a safe flagging work environment for our partners in the work zone.
  • Driving to and from designated work zones with all equipment necessary to provide a safe work zone.
  • Document and communicate with dispatch, operations and customers with regards to equipment utilized and proper location of set-up.
  • Maintain job sites and equipment to ensure the highest quality set-ups and also maintain The AWP Safety Way.
  • Be able to read and understand specific plans and instructions in order to exceed customer’s expectation.
  • Be able to make field adjustments and corrections to make the project safe for the customer, municipality, motoring public and pedestrians going through the work zone.
  • Perform pre and post-trip vehicle/equipment inspections.
  • Possess and wears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) equipment. PPE Equipment includes: Steel/Composite Toed Boots, Type 3 Reflective Vest, Hard Hat, Eye Protection, Gloves and any other necessary equipment required. (Some PPE provided).

Work Zone Environment and Physical Demands:

During a typical day/night while performing your job duties, you can expect to be exposed to:

  • Working in live traffic on the roadways.
  • Moving equipment at a fast pace in order to get the work zone established in a timely manner.
  • Outside weather conditions throughout the year, including extreme heat.
  • Loud noises.
  • Pedestrian traffic.
  • Demanding customers, inspectors and others involved with the work zone.
  • Constant physical activity; entering and exiting vehicles, climbing onto flatbeds, twisting and bending.
