Traffic Control Technician / Barricade Setter

Pay: $22-$25

As the Senior Protector, this role will support and uphold AWP’s core values and mission to protect our
customers’ people, businesses, and time. Controls movement of vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic
through work zones using hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle. Reviews, comprehends, and executes
temporary traffic control plans and/or standards to ensure work zones are properly installed and maintained.
Coordinates and communicates with customers to ensure the safety of all workers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Set up, maintain, and remove Advance Warning Signs, Channelizing Devices, and other traffic control
devices according to Federal, State, and/or Local Temporary Traffic Control Guidelines and
Temporary Traffic Control Plans for simple and intermediate complexity work zones
• Maintain a Flagger Station by standing and controlling road users through the use of hand signals
with a STOP/SLOW Paddle
• Drive a company vehicle to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites
safely and in a timely manner. May also pull lightweight trailered equipment
• Effective radio communication with team members on work site
• Follow all company safety procedures and practices
• Notify Supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents
• Achieve organizational required training within timeframe established by Project Manager or Facility

• Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to Protector

Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS)

As a Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) you will work in collaboration with the Facility Manager, Project Managers, and local AWP Team to support AWP’s core values and mission to protecting our customers’ people, business, and time. AWP TCS’s review and execute temporary traffic control plans and/or standards to ensure work zones are properly installed and maintained along with coordinating and communicating with customers to ensure the safety of all workers.

  • Pay: $22.25 - $28.00 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Set up, maintain, and remove channelizing devices, and other traffic control equipment according to Federal, State, and/or Local Temporary Traffic Control Guidelines and Temporary Traffic Control Plans for complex work zones to ensure safe movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through project locations and work zones.

· Coordinate and communicate work activity for onsite AWP personnel including Protectors (Flaggers), TMA Drivers, and Pilot Car Operators providing breaks and overall management of work zone operations

· Coordinate and communicate effectively with customers always maintaining a professional approach to meeting customers’ expectations

· Control a Flagger Station by standing and controlling vehicular and pedestrian traffic using hand signals with a STOP/SLOW paddle

· Drive Company vehicles to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. May also be required to pull lightweight trailered equipment

· Follow all company safety procedures and practices. Notifying their supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents

· Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to Protectors (Flaggers)

· Obtain all AWP required training within the time frame established by the Facility Manager

· Complete all required project documentation including Pre-Job Safety Briefings (PJSB), Daily Ticket Control Logs, Traffic Control Inspections, Vehicle Inspections, etc.

  • Organize, repair, maintain/clean equipment.
  • Support the daily maintenance of all vehicles (Maintain fluid levels, tire pressure, good housekeeping)
  • Pulling and preparing orders to ship to neighbor islands.
  • Provides help to staff and customers when necessary.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, OSHA regulations, company, military and port policies and requirements
  • Read and develops familiarity with excavation/shoring standards as specified in the 1926 subpart P.
  • Partake in monthly inspections for fire extinguisher, first aid kits and other safety-related inspections
  • Must know how to use basic tools such as tape measure, drill gun, hammer, pressure washer and other required tools needed to perform the required work
